Armed suspect sought in Citizens Bank heist

Police are seeking a man who robbed the Citizens Bank branch at 2014 Cottman Ave. on Monday.

The FBI/Philadelphia Police Department Violent Crimes Task Force is seeking the public’s assistance to identify and locate the man responsible for Monday’s armed robbery of the Citizens Bank branch at 2014 Cottman Ave.

At 11:37 a.m., the man entered the bank, approached the counter, held a knife in a teller’s direction, and demanded money. After obtaining an undisclosed amount of cash, he fled the area of the bank and was last seen heading east on Cottman Avenue.

The suspect is described as black, about 6 feet 3, with a thin build and light complexion. He was wearing a light gray hooded sweatshirt with dark-colored horizontal stripes, dark-colored pants, gray sneakers and a black mask concealing most of his face. His weapon was described as a 6-inch steak knife with a black handle.

This man is considered armed and dangerous. Anyone with information about the robbery or suspect is urged to call the task force at 215–418–4000.

A reward is being offered for information leading to this man’s capture. Tipsters can remain anonymous. ••
